Optimizing the Magneto-Mechanical Performance of Fe40Pd40B20/Fe50Pd50/Nd2Fe14B Permanent-Magnet Microwires

Principal Investigators & Key Members: Nguyen Thi My Duc, PhD

This project develops new high-performance magnetic microwires made from Fe₅₀Pd₅₀, Fe₄₀Pd₄₀B₂₀, and Nd₂Fe₁₄B, materials essential for sensors, small motors, medical devices, and renewable-energy technologies. Using rapid quenching, we create microwires with exceptional strength and tunable magnetic properties. By combining controlled heat treatment with advanced multilayer coatings, we aim to significantly improve magnetic hardness, durability, and stability while reducing dependence on rare-earth elements. The project will establish new design guidelines for compact, energy-efficient magnets and enable greener, more sustainable technologies for future applications in micro-robotics, smart materials, and high-frequency sensing.
